at the moment the use of UTF-8 is not (yet) imposed so DaDaBIK uses the default charset on the DBMS/Web server/Web browser side. Try the demo with greek characters and see if everything is handled correctly.

do you mean that you loose the setting about the number of records per page when you sort? That's weird, please provide information about your installation.

I have the records per page set at the default of 10.

I display the first page of 10 records and click on the records per page and choose 50. The page now displays the first 50 records. I click on a field to sort by that field. 10 sorted records are displayed. I click on the records per page and chose 50. The page now displays the original unsorted 50 records. I cannot find a way to display 50(or any other number that I choose) sorted records. I don't want to have to change the default to look at sorted records. Am I missing something?

Sorry for the late reply... too busy... strangely, I got it working for the database I showed you, no idea how and why.

However, implementing the quick search for fields not included in the the search config for another database (the more important one) does not work yet. I still have to investigate and will keppt you updated.

I know what you mean... ;-) I think I counted them but did not realized the missing one... Thanks again, the blank page issue has been solved. However, the search function for fields not activated in the config still does not work. :-(

Because of the smiley in there, I'm not sure it is correct ... is it like this:

if (($fields_labels_ar[$i]["present_search_form_field"] == "1") || (isset($_POST["allFieldsQS"]) && ($_POST["allFieldsQS"] == 1))) {

... and as I was removing the smiley, I saw I missed one closing bracket - should be 3 at the end:
one to close ($_POST["allFieldsQS"] == 1)
one to close the (isset ... && ($_POST...))
and one to close the entire if.

Try that and see. It's always the number of brackets that gets me in trouble.

I double and triple checked it but everything seems to be alright. This the line a added / changed:

The use with Mysql is just marginally affected by this bug

A new DaDaBIK release will be release soon in order to fix it.

Hi,
it is definitely a bug which affects the use with postgresql and sqlite, so thanks for having reported it. It can cause what you reported and other not correct behaviors.
A quick solution is the following one: edit the file /include/common_start.php and

change the line
return is_array($var)? array_map("addslashes_array", $var):escape($var);
with the line
return is_array($var)? array_map("addslashes_array", $var):addslashes($var);

add this piece of code:
if ($dbms_type = 'sqlite' || $dbms_type === 'postgres'){
ini_set('magic_quotes_sybase', 1);
}
immediately after
else{
echo "

[01] Error: please specify host, username, database name, site url, site path and timezone in config.php. If you use sqlite host and username are not needed.";
exit;
} // end else

Can you confim that it works in this way?

It is not a perfect solution because:
- even if addslashes was largely used in the past, it is actually better to escape content using database specific functions (the ones that escape called)
- it probably doesn't work with php >= 5.4
- could display a deprecated warning with php >= 5.3 (but still working)

Hi Hedo,

Not sure if it's too late or you have already found a solution to this, but having been helped by Debbie and others, I realised the problem was with the fields I had included in the search form (i.e. the fields set to 'Y' in interface configurator, Search Form). Please follow Debbie's advice in the info below:

FIRST ... to anyone who is using the $select_type_select_suffix variable to create the names of the fields using the quick search form. In order for this to work properly, you must ensure that everywhere in business_logic.php that refers to this variable, that it also appears in the global options line at the beginning of the function.

EG: in function build_form, if anywhere in the function the $select_type_select_suffix is referenced OR the function build_where_clause, etc., you must ensure that the variable is included in the $globals line near the top of the function!

Basically to use the quick search functionality, one must always remember to check the select type suffix in use in their own installation and change the quick search code accordingly (and add variables to global lines where appropriate).

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to set up a button or function that will allow me to email the details of a single record to the email adderess contained in the email field of the record?

I have only just got back into this Dadabik project, having found it an equal to PHPMaker (you get far more control and support with Dadabik than you do with PHPmaker, although normally you have to rely on the support of the amazing Dadabik support staff here (especially Debbie et al!) to ensure you can get things to work. PHPmaker is limited due to the fact you can't normally change the code or request changes). I would pay for Dadabik over PHPMaker anytime...

Juergen ... re blank page ... make sure you have the appropriate number of brackets surrounding your if statements. This is likely the cause of the blank page ... the complete statement is surrounded by brackets and all sub-statement are surrounded by brackets:

if ((part one) || (part two)) {

Double check your brackets and curly braces, etc.

Matt ... glad you found this info useful. As previously stated, I've not added this to my installs as I don't want them to search in fields I've not deemed "searchable".

Unfortunately, I got sidetracked from this project for quite sometime so didn't get around to responding to your last post. Sorry. However, Jue_Mue did make me realise what the problem was - it was only searching the fields present in the search form! So having now read your latest post above, I hope to be able to add the fields that were not being searched as searchable fields in my config. Although as it's been a few months since I touched this project, I hope I can find everything OK!!

Thanks again so much for this - just goes to show, even when you think you can't find a solution, given long enough someone else will! Big thanks to all contributors.

All three of those parameters in php.ini are set to OFF.

magic_quotes_runtime
magic_quotes_sybase
?

We can also have a skype call to try to solve the problem, at this point it seems to be a bug related to quotes handling with pgsql but it's hard to understand what's going on in your installation. If it's ok for you send me a PM with your skype username.

I did exactly what you proposed (double-checked it several times) and replaced the line in business_logic.php (and the form as well). Actually, there are two instances in the business_logic file.

However, I get a blank page now...

OK, so i tried with MySQL and there is NO error, it works like it should.

The difference between SQL queries in PostgreSQL and MySQL:

It's strange that it works in your case but not in mine. Probably shooting blanks here but is it possible that DBMS or driver is the reason?

Hi,
the problem is with quotes. As you can see, when you click on page 2, the link pass to the next page a where_clause variable which includes quotes...in the next page, for some reason, a couple of additional quotes are added to the query and that results in a error. At the moment I am not able to replicate the problem on my side, did you change something in the code?
