Credits
Apart from the staff, I also want to say thank you to:
Doug Holton (doug dot holton at vanderbilt dot edu), that provided the first version of the upload feature code.
Thomas Juergensen (Thomas dot Juergensen at gmail dot com), that provided the very first version of the ADOdb related code
Paolo Patruno (p dot patruno at iperbole dot bologna dot it), that discovered some particular bugs.
And to all the donators (a partial list of them is available in the Get involved & donations page).
Road map
Here is the list of features I want to add to future DaDaBIK v 4.x releases:
- Master-details view: for example displaying of an invoice in edit/detail view (one header and several records as items)
- Customizable tables menu: The possibility to choose the table not only by a select menu, but, for example, with a customizable links bar.
- Results table customization: Coloumn-specific word wrap, header repeating.....
- Support for other popular DBMS, in particular Sqlite, DB2 and MS Access
- Popup date picker: a javascript calendar for date type fields
- Record duplication: A control that allows to duplicate a record
- New graphic layout
- XHTML output
- New admin interface
Here is the hypothetical features list of DaDaBIK v. 5.x:
- (partial?) code rewrite
- Support for multiple primary keys
- Multiple joins: the possibility to link a field through several intermediate tables
- Better form customization: The possibility to choose exactly where you want to put a field in the page (and not just the order) using a template
- Better authorization model: The possibility to choose the permissions at a user/function level
- Use of database transactions
- Use of a custom code error handler
- Possibility to run DaDaBIK also setting magic_quotes_gpc to off
- Friendly URLs e.g. www.mysite.net/customers/view_results or www.mysite.net/customers/edit/121
- One DaDaBIK installation to manage several databases
- User groups
- User function plug-in
- Administration backend translated in all the supported languages
- Record lock in edit mode

If you are a good PHP programmer and are *seriously* intersted in implementing one of the above features, contact me: eugenio.tacchini at unicatt.it
Do you need a feature listed above or another one for you or for your company? You can also sponsor it, paying for have it implemented in DaDaBIK; contact me: eugenio.tacchini at unicatt.it.
